2010 Spring Clean-Up
WHEN: Saturday, May 1, 2010, 7:00 AM to 12:00 Noon
WHERE: City Street Barn, 400 East Quincy Street
This service is provided only for City of Garrett residents. You will need to have either a valid State of Indiana Driver's License or a Garrett Municipal Utilities billing stub to prove that you are a Garrett resident.
The City of Garrett is providing four rear-load compactor trucks and a 40 cubic-yard dumpster for acceptable materials (listed below).
Volunteers will assist with lifting. A loader will be used for larger items.
Two entrances are available from East Quincy Street; one on the east, and one on the west.
The following materials will be accepted:
- Tires without rims. There will be a $3.00 disposal charge for each tire. No semi-tractor tires are accepted, only automobile, pick-up truck and smaller tire
- Oils.
- Batteries; all sizes, including flashlight.
- All types of metal.
- Furniture, building materials and carpeting.
- Non-freon appliances. Freon appliances must have a sticker showing proof that the Freon has been removed.
- Propane tanks - no larger than 20 pounds.
- Junk, garbage, residential trash, etc. Loose materials will need to be bagged before delivery.
The following items will not be accepted:
- Paper and cardboard. These items can be delivered to the Garrett Recycling Center.
- Appliances containing Freon.
- Hazardous materials, including paint, paint thinners, aerosols, etc., can be taken to the Northeast Indiana Solid Waste District in Ashley on Fridays form 8:00 AM to 12:00 Noon for a fee of $5.00 per load. Click on this link for more information.
