Water Utility
The City of Garrett Water Utility is a municipally owned system servicing approximately 1,800 - 2,000 customers.
The Garrett Water Works, constructed in 1972, has undergone two expansions. Three additional wells have been added to the system along with a new storage tank. Garrett now has four wells and 2 elevated tanks.

Sanitary Sewer Utility
The Garrett Wastewater Treatment plant and system is a municipally owned system which serves approximately 2,200 customers. Sewer service is provided to Garrett and the adjoining town of Altona.
The wastewater treatment plant, constructed in 1955, has undergone four major expansion projects. An expansion project, doubling the plant capacity was completed in 2004.

- Average Daily Demand: 700,000 gallons.
Garrett Municipal Sanitary Sewer Rates
Electric Utility
The Garrett Municipal Electric Utility purchases electric power from American Electic Power, and distributes it via lines extending throughout Garrett and several adjoining unincorporated areas.

Natural gas in Garrett is supplied by Northern Indiana Fuel and Light (NIFL). Northern Indiana Fuel and Light Company is a gas utility headquartered in Auburn, Ind.
