Recreational & Other Mobile Dwelling Unit Vehicles

CHAPTER 153.10 - RECREATIONAL AND OTHER  MOBILE DWELLING UNIT VEHICLES

§ 153.10.1 Definitions

A recreational or other mobile dwelling unit shall mean temporary living quarters such as house trailers, recreational vehicles (RV's), truck bodies, bus bodies, railroad cars, tent-trailers, shacks and other shelters that may be moved by tractor, truck, automobile or horses, or can be carried, transported, or towed from place to place without the use of regular house loading equipment (amended April 2, 2002 by Ordinance # 2002-7)..

§ 153.10.2 Location Permitted

The aforesaid mobile dwelling units shall be permitted to locate in mobile home courts, trailer parks, trailer camps, RV parks or public or private camp approved by the Indiana State Board of Health and only in zoning districts established for such uses on the Zoning Map (amended April 2, 2002 by Ordinance # 2002-7).

§ 153.10.3 Temporary Location (amended April 2, 2002 by Ordinance # 2002-7)

(a).  The Zoning Administrator may grant a temporary permit for a mobile dwelling unit to be used as an office site or for storage purposes at the site of construction. Such permits shall be valid for a period not to exceed one year.

(b).  In all cases of the issuance of a temporary permit, the Zoning Administrator shall have absolute authority to determine a location of said mobile dwelling unit on the area where location is requested.

(c).  The parking of recreational vehicles, campers and pull trailers is as prescribed by §72.06 of the City of Garrett Code of Ordinances.

(d).  The removal of wheels of any mobile home, or house trailer, except temporarily for repair, or the permanent blocking up of such trailer or mobile home unit, whether situated in a camp or elsewhere, shall be construed to automatically convert said trailer into a permanent place of abode. Such trailer then shall be subject to the requirements of all laws and ordinances applicable to dwellings. Structural or lean-to addition to such local dwelling units shall not be permitted.
